Surely you have ever seen a beautiful grand piano in the shopping center of your city or in a public place, which is waiting for someone to approach and start pressing its keys. Of course, if you do it you have to be aware that you are going to be the center of attention for a few moments, and the more people there are, the more pressure, and nerves can overcome you and you end up playing a piece worse than you know. Personally, for me a public piano is a bad waste.
First of all, most of the people who decide to play it have no idea about music, they are usually children who want to play and start pounding the keys mercilessly. But from time to time, a musician does come by and delights all of us present with his talent, and this makes it all worthwhile. This piano was located at the Luqa airport in Malta. I bet most of the passengers that frequent this airport hadn’t even noticed it. But everything changed when this brave young man decided to sit down.
He seemed like just another tourist and everyone would think he was just another tourist who had no idea about music. But from the moment he started playing, he managed to get the attention of everyone in the waiting room. It’s very nice to listen to music while you’re bored waiting for boarding time to arrive, especially if it’s music in alive, and with pieces as surprising as those that this young man interpreted spontaneously.
