Blake Shelton’s Love for ‘The Voice’ Contestant Bryce Leatherwood: Hometown Support is All that Matters

Bryce Leatherwood may not have won ‘The Voice’ Season 22, but he already had a fan in Blake Shelton. The country coach, who fought to have the 22-year-old singer on his team, recently shared that people from Leatherwood’s hometown in Ada, Oklahoma, were rooting for him.

Shelton revealed that people didn’t care about him but just for Leatherwood, and he was all for it. This week, fans had the opportunity to select a song for each contestant to perform. For Leatherwood, they picked Morgan Wallen’s classic country hit, “Sand in My Boots.”

Leatherwood has previously sung traditional country songs like Conway Twitty’s “Goodbye Time” and George Strait’s “Amarillo by Morning.” Still, his performance of Wallen’s popular song showed his versatility in modern adaptations of country music.

The contestant’s usual routine look of a cowboy hat and belt buckle was replaced by a new look, with his hair gelled back. Leatherwood effectively used his deep baritone voice to give a memorable performance of the fan-picked song.
